Na początku stycznia 2015 roku, David E. Kelley ogłosił rozpoczęcie pracy nad scenariuszem adaptacji powieści Pan Mercedes" Stephena Kinga[42]. 28 maja 2016 roku, stacja Audience TV zamówiła pierwszy sezon serialu[43]

W październiku 2016 roku, poinformowano, że rolę Brady'a Hartsfield'a otrzymał Harry Treadaway[3]. W połowie grudnia 2016 roku, ogłoszono, że Deborah Hartsfield zagra Kelly Lynch[7] W kolejnym miesiącu poinformowano, że do obsady dołączyli: Holland Taylor jako Ida Silver, Jharrel Jerome jako Jerome Robinson, Mary-Louise Parker jako Janey Patterson, Justine Lupe jako Holly Gibney oraz Breeda Wool jako Lou Linklatter[4][5][6][8].

11 października 2017 roku, stacja Audience TV ogłosiła zamówienie drugiego sezonu[44].

20 listopada 2018 roku, stacja Audience TV ogłosiła przedłużenie serialu o trzeci sezon[45].
